Shift the focus from only SEO to provide a better user experience

As we all know, Google change their algorithm 500+ times a year, and these are the small tweaks to make user experience and results better, and these are largely unconfirmed. Then come the larger, more drastic algorithmic changes that sometimes cause a stir in the SEO industry, mainly due client sites being negatively impacted. The seminal idea behind Google’s ranking technology makes it clear that inbound links are the primary vehicle by which Google discovers new pages and websites on the Internet, and they’re the primary way Google assesses the credibility of a given website. The newest result isn’t always best – for less newsworthy topics, an in-depth and authoritative result that’s been around longer may outrank newer, thinner content. A company may be able to identify thousands of keywords worth optimizing—but do they have a big enough SEO budget to handle that workload? Which articles and posts get the most clicks? Not surprisingly, posts containing countdowns and Top 10 lists are heavily clicked. Not only do they get an enormous wave of traffic when first launched, but they’ll continue to attract traffic for months and even years later.

Use anchor text

Links increase the authority and trustworthiness of a page to search engines, which increases the overall authority of that website. Content marketing has always been crucial but it is no longer enough to research several industry keywords, place them on your blog and rely on affiliate network to post links back to your site. If you’ve been producing content in a haphazard manner, hoping and praying that some of it eventually ranks, it’s time to buckle down and commit to a more methodical SEO content strategy for the web. Images, videos, slideshows and audio act as a signal of quality content to search engines… after all, you have put in the work to make your content look good and interactive! When a search engine spider crawls your website it cannot rate its design nor measure the level of your customer support or the services you offer. It can only read and grade the content on your website and the way you have managed your backlinks. Hence, there is a huge emphasis on the quality of the content on your site and the backlink structure you have adopted and exactly why link building is so important.

Bad backlink tactics

There’s no clear formula, or single answer for the minimum amount of content a page should have. Some sources suggest having at least 600-700 words of content on every page. Google will follow your links, the post and pages that have the most internal links will be most likely to rank high in the search engines. You need to understand what keyword your target market use in order to find you. Have a brainstorm between you and your colleagues and come up with a list. Don’t just stop there though ask you customers, after all they are the ones looking for you! Local search success can be achieved by SEO. If everybody is linking people from their sites to yours, your site must thus offer top quality information worthy of a link. Therefore, Google and search engines alike bump these backlink-wealthy sites nearer the top of their pages in order to ensure people are finding the best sites for the information they require. The first thing you need to do is figure out who your ideal customer is. Think about where they are and the problems they are facing. What questions do they have that need answers? Once you have a clear picture of their issues in your mind, you should tailor your content to them.

SEO Remains Keyword Driven & LSI Keywords Are Important

We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "When done well, content marketing can contribute to boosting a site’s position in search rankings." Search engines typically assume that the more popular a site, page, or document, the more valuable the information it contains must be. Google scores ‘fresh content’ that’s updated regularly in a different way to a news article that doesn’t change. How relevant is your product page or category page to the search term? This is a huge ranking factor that’s often neglected. Stick to keywords that your products would genuinely satisfy. You’re not foolin’ Google. Enter one of your keywords into the search box of the search engine of your choice to determine the sites with the top search engine placement for this word. You are aiming for keywords that are frequently used by your target audience, but do not have many competing pages.

So Keywords and Keyword Research

Many SEO experts agree that a website's inbound links will be crucial this year, with many contending that there importance will increase as search engine algorithms increase their attention on penalizing poor links. It’s totally understandable that Google takes user behavior into account in their assessment of which result to rank highest. Off-Page SEO is made up of everything away from your site that you technically can’t control (although, you can influence) and affects how Google sees your page (particularly how authoritative and trustworthy it sees your page). During the life of any website pages come and go. It’s perfectly normal to remove a page, but what can frustrate visitors is finding their journey blocked by a dead page. Worse, a page that is removed loses any importance a search engine has given it. Instead of looking for one-off guest blogging opportunities the entire time, look for opportunities that could win you regular contributions to a single blog or your own column. These links look very natural, you can get multiple high quality links a month, and if the blog has a decent audience, you'll send a bit of traffic through those links too.

Don't scrape content from other websites

A headline is usually the first thing we notice when accessing a search engine, and this reminds us that a headline should be: valuable, relevant, simple and appealing. When determining the value of a keyword topic it’s important to understand what it will take to drive traffic for that keyword. Google continues to use natural, quality inbound links as a main ranking factor. It’s not enough to just know your keywords. You must use them in the right way to fully develop long-term SEO value. The best tactics include assigning one keyword to each page on your website and optimizing that page using on-site SEO best practices. That way you always publish SEO friendly posts and page content. Keyword research is still useful for example but we now know that Google doesn ’t want us to overly stuff our website with those search terms. Instead, the recommendation hovers at around 1-2% keyword density. If you write a long article and include the search term a few times, then that should be enough as long as it’s also in your code a little, or in your file name.
