You don't necessarily need a large social media presence, just an active one. The more you engage with the local community by responding to comments and questions, the more your Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other social profiles are likely to appear in local searches. If you can’t meet a visitor’s need on that page, direct them to a page (or even another site) that can. The user will greatly appreciate it and your webpage’s authority will be boosted. Google offers another tool called Google Website Optimizer
that allows you to run experiments to find what on-page changes will
produce the best conversion rates with visitors. There is no one quick fix for breaking through the rankings and getting yourself on top, unless you’re willing to pay an exorbitant amount of money for ads which are highly likely to just be ignored, anyhow. SEO results are only keenly felt long-term, and therefore it can be difficult for small business owners to see the value in taking time out of their day to write about their industry.
Structure your content to meet your SEO needs
You shouldn’t only target 1 keyword, even if you have a very small budget or think that 1 keyword covers everything that you do or sell. This is a mistake because unless it’s a highly searched for keyword, and if it is then the competition to rank well for it will be fierce and getting your site in the top positions for it very difficult, then ranking for that 1 keyword won’t attract enough visitors to your site. It is a quick, easy and sometimes even fun way to get your links out and maybe even have someone directly click on them which is always a good thing.
Earning backlinks from multiple domains is invaluable
You should search your favourite search engines for search terms such as:
“add url”, “suggest website” and add your website to these sites. All of this constitutes to link building for your website. This is the key to building decent backlinks in order to rank highly in search engines. " Using heading in your page structure can have a big impact on searchability. Search engines use the headings to index the structure and content of your web pages. Content creation and distribution is essential for SEO. Content is about much more than what's on your website. It's necessary to build your online real estate and create content that will improve visibility across the web. An SEO campaign without content is severely limited. Focus on your customers, and take the right logistical steps to make sure that search engines can find your content. Focus on the ‘road less traveled’ with long-tail opportunities, and you’ll be set. A key lesson to apply to pretty much every aspect of SEO, is not to get carried away when you find ideas that work. For example, just because quality is key, that doesn’t mean that you need to disavow every low quality link and only ever build links from the top sites.

It's unlikely that either site would have become as successful as they are today. When content and design work in harmony, users will find your site more easily and stay there longer.
